Things I’ve Made

2012

Any free time I have is normally filled with planing, prepping or making something. Here is a little collection of my most favourite things that I’ve made, but as it’s a ongoing hobby, I’ve been updating the blog with my most recent creations. One I’m particular fond of is the Kitty Tipi, you can can check them all out here.

Fabric iPhone Cable

It seems you have to own an iPhone to work in advertising. It also seems that there is always a shortage of iPhone cables and they often go missing. To stop mine getting ‘lost’, I decided to make it a little more distinctive by wrapping it in coloured embroidery thread.

Paper Butterflies

I love butterflies. I love the colours, how delicate they are and how they remind me of summer. However, I hate how expensive they are. So I printed my own, gave them a glossy coat of PVA and mounted them in a frame…. voila!

Suit Jacket Cape

I saw a beautiful navy cape in a designer store a few seasons ago and I’ve not been able to stop thinking about it since. I tried searching for one similar but after no avail I decided to make my own. I made this one from an old M&S suit jacket that I picked up a local jumble sale for £1, and I’m pretty pleased with the result!

Beer Bottle Oil & Chalk Label Spices

My boyfriend will claim this is ALL his idea. It’s not. We’d seen some beautiful oil dispensers, but wanted a way to combine our love of food, and his love of beer. It was simple; buy beer, drink beer, clean beer, fill with oil and pop on a pourer. Easy.

For the spices we soaked off the horrible shop labels, stuck on some chalkboard stickers and re-wrote the names on with a chalk pen.

Homemade Terrariums

I love indoor plants, but I always forget to water them so terrariums seemed like the perfect solution – plus they look like mini jungles! The price tag of a pre-made ones put me off, so I bought some vases, candlesticks and jars from charity shops and after a trip down Columbia Road, I had my very own.

Cycle Hip Bag

My boyfriend is a keen cyclist. In the summer he didn’t want to ride around with a sweaty backpack, but also didn’t want to get caught short without any tools or puncture repair kit. So made him a hip bag that mounts to his belt. It looks a bit grubby now, but that means it’s well used – success!

Union Jack Pillow

I wanted a pillow for the living room and for chilling in the park, so I thought I’d make one inspired by my favourite event from last year – the Royal Wedding!

Creature Tails

Like most old buildings in London, the windows at Creature of London are single glazed and don’t fit properly, which led to drafty ankles and huge jumpers. To solve this problem, and tie in with the Agency’s name, I made ‘tail’ draft excluders to sit along the window sill. Then in the summer, we hang the tails out of the window to confuse any passers by.
